- This smart phone case is designed for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S (the 2014 and 2015 models). Don’t buy this is you have an earlier model of the iPhone.
The smart phone case has large cutouts that fit almost all cables, unlike some of its rivals that have such tight tolerances that you can’t use third party accessories with the smart case on.
This smart phone case is rugged and offers outstanding impact protection. It is certified to meet MIL-STD 810G 516.6, a U.S. military standard. If it can handle field conditions in war, it can handle the day to day use and abuse of a phone. This smart phone has cutting edge air cushion technology for excellent protection from drops and sudden impacts. The durable outside polycarbonate case covers an inner shock absorbing TPU foam layer.
This phone case is covered by U.S. Patent No. D747306 for its raised lip and defined buttons that offer excellent protection of buttons, ports and the screen.
This smart phone case for the iPhone 6 / 6S comes in a variety of basic colors. You don’t find cutesy patterns, but you can add those extra skins to this smart phone case if you want.
I bought the Gun Metal case when I purchased a new iPhone 6S based on the positive reviews. The iPhone 6S is 0.2 tenths of a millimeter thicker than the iPhone 6, which makes some of the iPhone 6 cases fail to fit the iPhone 6S. This case has enough give to fit either model. And the phone fits if you put one of those plastic laminates over the screen to protect it.
You assemble it by taking off the hard panel, putting in your phone and snapping the hard case back in place. This is so much simpler than some of the smart phone cases that require you to shimmy on a foam layer and hope you get it on right and not rip it in the process.
The lip on this smart phone case is larger than that on most cases. For example, when you put most phone cases on the table screen down, the lip is enough to prevent that sticky cola stain from smearing on the screen. This smart phone case has a thick enough lip that it protects the screen from cracking if it falls “butter side down” on the floor. I haven’t had it fall that way as a real life test, but the military standards this phone case meets are enough to know it can protect the phone in that instance.
The case doesn’t add much bulk to the already big iPhone 6S. And the case gives you a good grip on the phone.
The only minor annoyance with this case is the slightly stiff volume and power button covers. The stiffness fades after a couple of uses. The cutouts are a perfect fit and not just for Apple branded headphone jacks. However, some of the larger generic plugs won’t work. That’s almost a matter of trial and error but you avoid the issue altogether if you just buy the iPhone hardware to go with the phone.
